Administering ArteFill

Artefill is administered using a localized needle with concentration on the problem areas of the face. Treatment can last for around half an hour. It’s normally considered as an outpatient procedure. Since Artefill consists of microspheres, a skin allergy test is required before treatment takes place. This is to ensure the patient’s safety and to avoid post-treatment problems.  Another advantage of an Artefill injection is that it has anesthetic which eases the discomfort during and after treatment. Each injection, most especially the dosage, is customized to the patient’s need.

What to Expect

Like any other dermal filler treatments, the patient will experience minimal swelling and redness of the treated areas. These normally last up to 48 hours. However, the slight bruising might take 5-7 days. The patient should refrain from any laborious activities as it might affect the treated areas when you exert too much muscle movement. When the swelling subsides, the patient will see a dramatic change on the face which normally gives a softer, younger looking skin. A certain glow is noticeable especially in the nasoflabial areas.

Expected Cost

Currently the cost of the treatment ranges from $ 900 to $ 1,300. It depends on the depth of of the areas to be treated, the medicines prescribed, the number of sessions required and the extent of the patient’s desired outcome. Normally, the surgeon will advise numerous treatments for more favorable results. Financing options may be available at your doctor’s clinic so it’s worth inquiring if you prefer it.

ArteFill FAQs

How Safe Is Artefill?

Artefill has been in the cosmetic field since the 1980s making it a reputable skin treatment. It has a very low rate of long-term side effects. It is also a non-absorbable filler and can last many years without any complications. What most patients like about it is the non-invasiveness of the procedure so it doesn’t come with the usual risk of surgery.

BOTOX or Artefill?

Botox is a popular muscle relaxant which smoothens wrinkles by temporarily ‘relaxing’ the muscles that contract and cause wrinkles. Fillers are injectables which functions as a volumizer and smoothen out wrinkles as its side-effect. Both have advantages and specific applications depending on the patient’s preference, facial structure and cosmetic goal. Between the two, Botox is more temporary as effects fade after a few months when the patient needs reinjection to maintain its pleasant effects.

How Old Should I Be?

Artefill aims to rejuvenate and smoothen wrinkle areas which are normally found in middle-aged women. The treatment can also be administered to younger people who suffer from stress-related premature aging, or those who wanted to enhance their appearance with smoother facial skin. Artefill is not confined to ‘smile wrinkles’ alone but can also be used for lip augmentation, pitted scars and acne related skin problems.

Where To Inject Artefill?

Artefill is directly injected in the face where wrinkles are present – more commonly along the lines concentrated on the side of the mouth just below the cheeks and the pronounced folds between nose and mouth.
