Stacey's Story

Well, I had considered cosmetic surgery with Dr. Nuveen, after I'd had three children. I'd had a C-Section, and it wasn't done very well, and so I was self-conscious of that.

I'd gone to his office and talked earlier about the tummy tuck, but then when this happened that I had to have my breast implants changed too, then he did all of it at one time. And, you know, he just took me into the office, and I felt really comfortable. He drew what he was going to be doing, explained everything about what we were going to do. It wasn't anything that was a big surprise. I was able to go on back to work teaching school, and I think I had the procedure done on a Wednesday, and I went back to school teaching on Monday. Pre-k at that time, which is fairly demanding, and I was able to do that.

I wouldn't say it's transformed my life. It was an expectation that I've always had of myself, that I wanted to look good always. What he did, he just really met a need. I wasn't there, and he got me there. I can put on a bikini immediately, and I'm not embarrassed. I'm perfectly confident. 

That's one of the things that he really gave me. Absolute confidence. Always.

People, I'm not kidding. You would not believe. People all the time stop me, they don't know me, and they tell me how great I look. Which sounds kind of odd, you wouldn't expect that, but it happens to me a lot. And it wouldn't have happened, and it didn't ever happen before I went to Dr. Nuveen.

I would say that maintaining your body is like maintaining anything else in your life. Your health, your car, your home. You know, whatever you take pride in. If you take pride in the way you look, and it's important to you, then I would say, "Absolutely, go to Dr. Nuveen, and let him tell you what he can do." I've gone in a couple of times saying, "This is what I want." And he was like, "Well, this is what you need." 

He has this wonderful bedside manner. Like the day I went in to talk about doing something about my face, he told me a story about when he did something to his mom's face that was similar. So, he has a personal story that made me really comfortable, and I feel like if he could do it to his mother, he could do it to me.

I think it's important to share your story because you need to have a real person, just talking about their real story. Real stories that you hear, they're not going to be idealized. I think when you hear the word surgery, it sounds like something that's going to be scary. So, if people could understand that if you do what you're supposed to before, during, and after, and follow those directions that you're given, it's not scary. It's pretty much an ordinary thing people do all the time. For me that was it.

The result was everything he said it would be, actually, and better. Really better.
