While BOTOX is the most well-known injectable wrinkle relaxer, Xeomin is another brand of purified botulinum type A that can be the better choice for some patients. Like other wrinkle relaxers, Xeomin works by temporarily freezing the facial muscle whose frequent contractions are causing the patient's dynamic wrinkles in areas like the forehead or around the eyes and mouth. Oklahoma City cosmetic surgeons, Dr. Erik Nuveen and Dr. Courtney Caplin will listen to each patient during the consultation and based on the patient's needs, concerns, and aesthetic goals, they may suggest a treatment plan with Xeomin wrinkle relaxer injections. Patients in the Oklahoma City area who want to treat their wrinkles and other signs of facial aging are encouraged to visit Cosmetic Surgery Affiliates for a consultation and personalized treatment plan.

"Comfortable environment and friendly staff. Dr. Caplin did an awesome job on my hairline advancement, brow lift and lift injection. Dr. Caplin called and checked on me which made me feel good. I’m healing and I’m excited to get my breast implants next."- K.D. / Google / Jan 09, 2021
"Dr. Caplin is so amazing, and very sweet, as are her nurses. I had my augmentation done a couple of months ago and less than two weeks later I was able to go back to the gym and do light cardio, and only a month later I was lifting weights again. I couldn't be happier with the results; I feel more confident and beautiful! I 100% recommend Dr. Caplin and her facility to anyone seeking cosmetic surgery."- L.R. / Google / Jan 02, 2021

What to Expect
Xeomin is an in-office procedure that is usually performed in less than 30 minutes. Prior to treatment, ink marks will be made to the injection sites on the face, and a fine needle will deliver the product directly into the skin. Xeomin is most effective in treating frown lines, crow’s feet, forehead furrows, and wrinkles around the chin area. There is no pain during the injection, but numbing creams may be applied to ease any discomfort caused by the injection prick. Mild swelling and redness may appear on the injection area, which usually subsides after a few hours. After a Xeomin treatment, there is no downtime, and most patients may resume normal activities.
The average cost for a single syringe of Xeomin is about $350. This cost is similar to both BOTOX and Dysport as well. Some patients will only require a single syringe of product, while others will need several in order to attain the results they desire. Additional treatments will be needed about once a quarter in order to maintain results.

Is BOTOX Better?
Xeomin is purely botulinum toxin type A unlike BOTOX (or Dysport), which has additives. This decreases the chances of the patient’s immunity to the medication. There is also the ease of distribution as Xeomin doesn’t require refrigeration. Other than that, both provide the same effect in treating facial cosmetic issues.
Is This Safe?
In the hands of a well-experienced practitioner, muscle relaxants are safe. The effects are also temporary, so if the patient is dissatisfied with the results, they can be rest assured that these results will not last forever. Xeomin has been proven by the FDA to be safe and effective to use.
Combined With Fillers?
A growing trend nowadays is a “liquid facelift” in which both muscle relaxers and derma fillers are combined in a single treatment. It is a noninvasive way of rejuvenating the facial appearance without surgery. Most patients who prefer this method believe the temporary and safe results outweigh the risks of a surgical procedure.
