  • Enhancing proportions — The improvement to your butt with a Brazilian butt lift can help yield an emphasized proportion, whether you only are looking for a shapelier butt or an hourglass curve.

Brazilian Butt Lift Surgical Technique

Each patient will first be initially evaluated to make sure that the patient is a good candidate for the Brazilian butt lift method. Areas that will be removed will be discussed and chosen. Depending on the amount of fat necessary to fill the buttocks area, multiple donor sites on the body may be considered. If more than two bilateral regions, additional costs may be incurred. After liposuction has been performed, the Wells Johnson HVP closed sterile system is used which ensures the fat tissue is most healthy for transfer. This keeps it sterility of the fat for reinjection into the buttocks. We then reinject the fat using blunt a cannula to make sure that the layering is done properly, effectively and that the results are smooth and shapely.

What to Expect During and After Brazilian Butt Lift Surgery

This surgery is considered an outpatient procedure and IV sedation is usually used. occasionally used. In some cases, general anesthesia is recommended, with gasses and placements of a breathing tube. This depends on the duration of the procedure and other pre-existing health issues. The surgery lasts an average of 2 hours depending on the number of donor sites and fat layering needed. After surgery, a compression garment is worn to help with the swelling and also assist in the contouring of the buttocks. Patients are advised not to put weight on the butt area for the first 2-3 weeks following surgery. Sitting or laying down must be done with the weight mostly on the thighs. Final results, after the swelling and bruising has subsided, usually can be seen within 6-8 weeks.

Brazilian Butt Lift FAQs

What is involved in a Brazilian Butt Lift?

A Brazilian butt lift is a procedure used to correct patients with a flat or sagging buttock appearance. Dr. Nuveen and Dr. Caplin perform the all-natural augmentation procedure to reshape, enhance, or add more projection to various areas of the buttocks. The result is a more natural, artistically sculpted, and attractive buttock appearance.

During the procedure, liposuction is used to remove unwanted fat from selected areas of the body, including the abdomen, flanks, arms, and outer thighs. The fat is carefully purified and then strategically injected to highlight your buttock’s most attractive features.

Will I Have Lumpy Cheeks After a BBL?

When done correctly, the result of a Brazilian butt lift should look and feel natural. It is very important for those who are considering this procedure to find a cosmetic surgeon with experience with this type of surgery. The results will be affected by technique and how the the fat is injected.

Natural or Synthetic?

Many patients opt for fat transfers because they feel it is more safe and natural. For some, they are simply not comfortable with implants or a foreign device placed in their buttocks. When choosing whether to go natural or with implants, it’s important to understand the pros and cons to each. The one disadvantage of fat transfers is that the injected fat maybe naturally reabsorbed into the body over time, which means that a secondary surgery could become necessary later on in order to maintain max results. Implants are a more permanent solution so patients will need to consider the long-term effects of surgery carefully.

Are There Multiple Donor Sites for BBL?

Multiple donor sites for the fat grafting may include the lower backside, abdomen, love handles and the thighs. Liposuction done in these areas usually also helps contour the surrounding areas of the buttocks, which results in a gorgeous silhouette.

What If I Gain Weight After BBL Surgery?

The ideal candidates for this procedure are those who are at or very close to their goal weight. Both significant weight gain or loss will compromise the results of the surgery. Patients who have had this procedure should stick to a healthy lifestyle with proper diet and exercise.

Who should have a BBL?

The ideal Brazilian butt lift candidate is a patient who demonstrates a small buttock appearance. However, not all men or women are ideal candidates. Patients must have enough fat in other regions of their body in order to transfer fat volume to their buttocks. In patients with insufficient body fat, buttock implants may be considered.

BBL vs. Implants?

Using fat transfer, the patient’s own body fat is injected to help reshape and contour the buttock region. Fat transfer allows for a more natural result, with lower risk of infection. Fat transfer also allows for contouring various regions, allowing for a more individualized approach. Liposuction of the lower back and hips can be performed simultaneously to further enhance the results of your Brazilian butt lift.

Are Incisions involved with BBL Surgery?

The Brazilian butt lift procedure is performed through inconspicuous 1/4 inch incisions that can become nearly, if not completely, invisible in time. Prior to liposuction, a local anesthesia solution provides patients with minimal postoperative bruising and swelling. Small meticulously placed sutures are used to close all incisions.

How Long do BBL Results Last?

The results of Brazilian butt lift can be long lasting, as long as patients maintain a healthy and active lifestyle. Substantial weight gain or loss can affect the shape of your butt lift procedure. Long-term results depend upon the portion of injected fat that is naturally absorbed back into the body. Most of the time, you can expect a 60-85% survival of the injected fat

When can I exercise after BBL Surgery?

You can increase your activity as tolerated but no heavy lifting or running for at least two weeks after surgery. Golden Rule: if it hurts, don’t do it. Allow your body time to heal.

Can't have a Bowel Movement after BBL?

Pain medication can cause constipation. We suggest purchasing an over the counter stool softener to assist in regularity (Colace or Dulcolax). Take one with each meal until you are finished taking narcotic pain medications. If this is not productive in 24 hours, take one quarter of a bottle of Magnesium Citrate.

Can I resume sexual activity after a BBL?

You can resume your sexual activities as tolerated.

Bruising after a BBL?

Some bruising is normal following any surgical procedure. Once again, ice is strongly recommended to reduce bruising. If you have excessive or very dark bruising, you should contact our office or your physician if outside of normal business hours.
