Courtney Caplin, MD, DMD is an internationally recognized cosmetic and maxillofacial surgeon, educator, and physician leader dedicated to advancing the future of aesthetic medicine through surgical excellence, physician education, innovation, patient safety, and practice transformation. She is a surgeon-owner of Cosmetic Surgery Affiliates with locations in Jacksonville, Florida, and Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, and serves as Clinical Assistant Professor at the University of Oklahoma.

Dr. Caplin is among a select group of surgeons in the United States to hold certification from the American Board of Cosmetic Surgery, the American Board of Facial Cosmetic Surgery, and the American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery. She completed her Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery residency at the University of Florida, where she served as Chief Resident and was recognized for excellence in patient care, ethics, and surgical leadership. She subsequently completed advanced fellowship training in General Cosmetic Surgery and Facial Cosmetic Surgery under the direction of Dr. E. Antonio Mangubat in Seattle, Washington.
Throughout her career, Dr. Caplin has remained committed to advancing cosmetic surgery through education, mentorship, and leadership. She currently serves as Chair of the Facial Cosmetic Surgery Fellowship Committee and as a peer reviewer for the American Journal of Cosmetic Surgery, contributing to surgeon education, academic advancement, and the development of future leaders within the specialty.
As a surgeon-owner practicing in two states, Dr. Caplin brings a unique perspective on the intersection of surgical excellence, practice leadership, regulatory compliance, quality improvement, and operational innovation. She has been actively involved in healthcare technology advancement and served as a beta tester for emerging artificial intelligence documentation solutions designed to improve physician efficiency, workflow, and patient communication.
Dr. Caplin has been featured on TLC’s Botched Bariatrics, highlighting her expertise in complex body contouring and reconstructive cosmetic surgery following massive weight loss. She has also participated in international humanitarian surgical missions throughout Central and South America, providing reconstructive care for patients with cleft lip, cleft palate, and craniofacial differences.
An internationally invited lecturer, Dr. Caplin has presented throughout the United States, Austria, and England on aesthetic surgery, facial rejuvenation, surgical innovation, physician leadership, patient safety, practice transformation, continuing medical education, and the evolving future of cosmetic medicine. Her presentations combine evidence-based principles with practical strategies designed to improve patient outcomes and elevate the practice of aesthetic surgery.
