What does it mean for a surgeon to be board certified?
Board Certification means that a physician has undergone the prerequisite education to obtain a medical degree, completed the requirements of residency (3-9 years in duration) and requirements to sit for the examination, both written and verbal. There are many boards within the area of surgery and many other boards within the areas of medicine. All have varying requirements. Our physicians are all double and triple board certified. That means they have completed their residencies (6-8 years), fellowships (1-2 years) and successfully passed the examinations associated with their areas of chosen expertise. There is no higher standard in cosmetic surgery than Board Certification by the American Board of Cosmetic Surgery.
