When skin takes on a saggy appearance due to aging, pregnancy, or weight loss, a person’s self-esteem can be dampened. With body contouring, the body can be transformed through a number of cosmetic procedures, which removes the loose skin and tightens and lifts the remainder. Cosmetic surgeons Dr. Erik Nuveen and Dr. Courtney Caplin at Cosmetic Surgery Affiliates in Oklahoma City can perform body contouring all over the body, including the stomach, arms, breasts, buttocks, thighs and hips. When there is excessive fat as well, the doctors can perform liposuction. Following surgery, the body will appear smoother-looking, more toned, lifted and younger-looking.
Body Contouring Reviews
"Words can’t begin to express how happy I am with my experience! Everyone is extremely friendly and welcoming. Follow up and organization are on point. My results- I can’t begin to explain how amazing they are! I lost 120lbs and was worried about which surgeon to pick who would really do my new body justice. I went to others who had limited before/afters and just wasn’t confident in them. After one consult with Dr. Nuveen I knew he was the doctor for me! He has perfected post weight loss body contouring to take a fraction of the time and heal 2x as fast. It sounded too good to be true. But I’m 8 days post op and I can honestly say he was right!!! I couldn’t imagine why someone would go anywhere else. You’re treated like royalty from day one. I’m forever going to sing the praises of Cosmetic Surgery Affiliates!!!"- A.F. / Facebook / Feb 28, 2019
"I had gastric weight loss surgery in March 2008. After a dramatic weight loss of over 150lbs, I had a significant amount of sagging skin that I wanted removed around my waist line and buttocks. Dr. Nuveen and his staff are impressive. I felt comfortable from the time I walked in the door. His knowledge of cosmetic surgery was far superior to any of the other 7 surgeons I visited with, and I gladly chose him as my surgeon. Dr. Nuveen on the initial appointment spent nearly 40 minutes explaining the procedure, discussed possible side effects and recovery. He had pictures (proof) of his work on other patients and was concerned about my well being more than just a quick sell.I elected a procedure called a Belt Liptecomy, aka 360' Body Lift. The costs were extremely reasonable for the procedure, and were all inclusive. It has been 2 years now since the surgery, and I couldn't be more pleased. I look and feel great, for such a major surgery I was in great hands. I was impressed that Dr. Nuveen himself called to check on me, and the follow-up from his staff was impressive as well.I highly recommend his practice and have been nothing but pleased."- C.B. / Google / Dec 08, 2013
"AMAZING!!!! I have only really amazing things to say about this place. Both of the surgeons there and their staff have been really wonderful and sweet, and they did a great job with my boobs. :-) They also help me to get my gender changed on my driver's license, because I am transgendered. Their kind love, assistance and support have made all the difference in the world to this sweet gal! :-) 5 STARS!!!! ????"- T.A. / Google / Nov 18, 2016
"Would give more stars if I could! Amazing group of people working here and very considerate, helpful, encouraging, and overall I had a even better experience than I could have ever expected. I'm very grateful for their opinions, timeliness, care, and most importantly my surgery outcome! Could not recommend a better plastic surgeon and staff!"- Anonymous / UCompareHealthcare / Nov 20, 2016
"I had a tummy tuck & flank lipo & am currently 3 weeks post op. I'm thrilled with the results thus far & am looking forward to the final result. Dr. Nuveen is very talented, friendly, & knowledgable. I went to three different consultations & he was the one that my husband & I both agreed on hands down! All three doctors were concerned about an existing gall bladder scar on my abdomen & Dr. Nuveen told me the worst case scenerio & if it happened, how it could be fixed. During surgery he opted not to cut out my belly button to help the blood flow hindered by that old scar & my incision has healed with NO complications. I went in yesterday for my belly button & that also went very well. I was informed up front by the staff that all follow up visits will be with the nurse unless I request to see Dr. Nuveen. I have complete confidence in the nurses so I have no problems with that. I would recommend Dr. Nuveen to any of my friends and I intend to go back next year for augmentation. The process of body contouring is specifically designed to help patients reshape, tighten and firm up problem areas of the body where loose and sagging skin is present. Common areas addressed are the neck, arms, breasts, abdomen, hips, flanks, thighs, buttocks, and knees. It is likely that the doctor will consider a number of procedures to be combined into one surgery (where necessary). This typically involves the upper body parts or lower body parts that are staged together to minimize the risk of infection and shorten the recovery time.
During surgery, the surgeon will trim away and remove excess skin and the underlying tissues will be tightened. Liposuction is often a part of this process. All procedures are performed under general anesthesia. The duration of the surgery and the length of the hospital stay will depend on how many procedures were combined in a single operative setting. Recovery from this surgery is slow and challenging, but the improvements that are visible create a significant boost of self-confidence for the majority of patients.
The price for body contouring varies. How high the cost, depends on how many procedures are being performed together. Factors such as the length of hospital stay will increase the cost. During the initial consultation, a customized surgical plan will be provided with the overall cost expectations outlined, which includes recommended treatments that meet the patient’s aesthetic goals.

Body Contouring FAQs
Procedures I Can Combine?
Procedures are combined and scheduled in stages depending on the overall physical health of the patient and the body areas that need to be addressed. Typically, the grouping will be staged with a combination of either the upper body parts (abdomen, breasts, arms, neck, face), or lower body parts (buttocks, thighs, flanks, knees). This staging helps reduce the risk of complications, such as blood loss and infection, since the surgery is limited to an area. This also shortens the length of time for recovery. The combination of procedures will be outlined during the initial consultation with the surgeon.
The Ideal Timing?
Individuals who have lost a significant amount of weight will need to be at or near their goal weight in order to proceed with a body contouring procedure. In addition, body contouring should also be reserved for those who have already had children and are not planning to become pregnant in the future. This is a recommendation only because it preserves the toned appearance created through surgery without compromising the surgical outcome.
Mommy Makeover Procedure?
A mommy makeover is a procedure that is in the same context of body contouring. It is a coined term for a group of body contouring procedures that address areas of the body specifically affected by pregnancy. These are the areas around the breasts, abdomen, hips and buttocks. Again, this is only a general term for body contouring reserved for those who have completed one or more pregnancies.
Will There Be A Lot of Scars?
In general, body contouring procedures will result in scarring. Most patients report that once the incisions heal, the scarring is no longer a primary worry as the benefits of this life-changing surgery are so significant. An experienced plastic surgeon will make every effort to minimize the scars by carefully placing the incisions inconspicuously. Post-surgery care is also very important. Topical creams may be prescribed to help in the healing process. Over time, the scars will lighten and blend in with the patient’s natural skin tone.
