What is a Cheek Lift?
The facial features can change over the years, from age, weight changes, gravity, environmental damage, and other factors. In many people, the cheekbones see change the soonest as the youthful volume and contour of the cheeks begin to deflate and droop. The malar fat pads start to sag, which makes the mid-face look sunken-in, which can become more pronounced with time and cause the face to look tired. A cheek lift, also referred to as a mid-facelift, by the cosmetic surgeon of Cosmetic Surgery Affiliates in Oklahoma City, OK, Dr. Erik Nuveen and Dr. Courtney Caplin, repositions the fat and tissue of the face to enhance the contours of the cheeks. These results occur while reducing under-eye puffiness, mid-face indentations, and the nasolabial folds. With the use of an endoscope, cheek lift surgery has become less invasive and requires less recovery than a traditional surgical cheek lift.
"I’ve had such a great experience with CSA. The facility is clean, beautiful and inviting. The women at the front desk are always friendly, both over the phone and in person. I had a consultation for a breast augmentation in March. The consult was thorough! We discussed my hopes/goals, different types of implants, different methods of placement, and I got to try a bunch of implant sizes until I decided on a size I felt the best with. The nurse practitioner made sure to answer all of my questions and made me feel so reassured throughout the whole process. I was then presented with price estimates and payment/financing options. They made my decision to move forward so easy and never made me feel pressured. I am now 5 weeks post-op and could not be happier with my results! Dr. Nuveen was amazing and far exceeded my expectations! He made me feel comfortable from start to finish. He explained things clearly/concisely and made sure to address any questions I had (both pre and post op)! He truly gave me back all of the confidence I’d lost after breastfeeding and I could not be more grateful. 10/10 would recommend ❤️"- J.R. / Google / May 11, 2022

Dr. Nuveen answered all of my questions and then some. My results exceeded my expectations and I have already referred him to several friends and family members!"- M.W. / Google / May 01, 2022

"Everyone I came in contact with at CSA was so friendly and helpful. They provided great pre and post-op instructions, and went above and beyond to make sure I was taken care of. I was pretty nervous about my surgery but the nurses helped calm my nerves by making me feel safe. Dr. Nuveen is an amazing surgeon and took the time to speak with me personally before surgery. He’s very personable and respectful of his patients’ wishes. He never tries to persuade you into having a surgery you don’t want. I would highly recommend him and CSA to anyone with cosmetic surgery needs!"- A.R. / Google / Apr 15, 2022
"Dr. Caplin just did my surgery a couple days ago and I had an amazing experience. Everyone there was wonderful and I would definitely recommend this facility to anyone looking to get anything done. I can’t wait to see my final results I was comfortable and taken care of the whole time and any questions I had were answered. 10000/10 will recommend them to anyone that asks or is looking for a place to get cosmetic surgery done. 🖤"- L.B. / Facebook / Apr 08, 2022
How does a cheek lift work?
Endoscopy is a popular method used to reposition sagging cheeks. Small incisions, less than an inch long, are placed near the ear or hairline. These incisions allow the surgeon to insert and utilize a tiny camera positioned at the end of a small tube. Once the inside of the cheek area is visible, the surgeon performs a repositioning and suturing technique of the malar pad just underneath the skin. With a subtle lift, volume is regained on the cheekbones, and the pockets below the eyes are also diminished. This technique takes the pressure off of the nasolabial folds, or the laugh lines, which helps soften the lines around the mouth. This effort results in a refreshed, more youthful appearance.
What can i expect During/After a cheek lift?
Cheek lift surgery is performed using general anesthesia. It is an outpatient procedure that lasts for about 1 - 2 hours in an accredited surgical facility. Swelling and bruising are normal after the surgery. There will be a tight sensation around the face area which eventually disappears as the reattached fat pad settles on its new position. Patients do not need to be anxious or worried that the results will appear fake or “plastic.” Skilled facial surgeons are able to create natural outcomes with beautiful results. Keep in mind it can take up to six months for the final results to appear.
How much does a cheek lift cost?
Patients can expect to pay between $6,150 to $10,250 for a single cheek lift procedure. The price increases when the lift is done to supplement other facial surgeries, such as a facelift or chin lift. Because this surgery is considered cosmetic, it is not covered by medical insurance.

Cheek Lift FAQ
Are there any nonsurgical options for a mid-facelift?
Yes, an injectable filler is a great nonsurgical option that can offer nice results. While fillers are a good alternative, the results produced are not as dramatic as with surgery, nor will they last as long. In addition, if the patient is concerned with loose and sagging skin, filler treatment is not ideal as it only adds volume and will not produce the lifted look a mid-facelift can effectively provide. Fillers are good options to add volume and smoothen wrinkles. During the initial consultation, we will be able to recommend the best procedure for the patient’s case.
Should I get a cheek lift or a cheek augmentation?
It depends on the tissue volume present within the cheek area. A cheek lift is ideal for those with enough cheek volume, but repositioning is needed as the fat pad is already droopy, oftentimes caused by aging. A cheek augmentation or implant is recommended for those who do not have enough tissue underneath the cheeks to achieve better proportional facial features.
Will my results from a cheek lift look natural?
It takes several months for optimal results from a cheek lift to show. Initially, the patient will have tight and pulling sensations on the face as the skin and tissues adjust to their new position. It is important to note that finding a surgeon with the necessary skill set is critical. A surgeon who specializes in facial cosmetic surgery understands the confines of the face so that any enhancement looks natural.
Will I have scars after a mid-facelift?
With endoscopy, scars will be minimal and inconspicuous since the incisions made are less than an inch. Sometimes, the incisions are concealed within the hairline or along the natural creases of the face. With a cheek lift, the sutures are underneath the skin in which the fat pad is attached to the bone where it will heal in its new position. Wound care instructions are provided to assist patients in the healing process.
