Enhanced Recovery After Surgery (ERAS) protocols were created to improve the quality of recovery after surgical procedures. In 2001, Henrik Kehlet, M.D., a Danish general surgeon, convened the first conference to review available evidence to create a standard for improved outcomes from common general surgical procedures. 

Dr. Nuveen and Dr. Caplin published the first article of its kind in the world on the application of similar evidence in body contouring surgery in the American Journal Of Cosmetic Surgery (3/20). In this publication, Oklahoma’s best cosmetic surgeons reviewed 137 consecutive BodyLift procedures performed at Cosmetic Surgery Affiliates and his surgery facility. This is the second largest study of outpatient BodyLift ever published. He cited 133 references in extraordinary detail to support the ideal outcomes of patients undergoing BodyLift surgery. This article took more than two years and 2,000 hours to complete. They were not paid a cent to do this. The impact of such a study could well influence patient safety throughout the world, as a result of it’s content and its availability in publication and on-line.
