What is Breast Augmentation?
Breast augmentation is a procedure that enlarges the breasts to give them a fuller, more shapely appearance. Generally speaking, breast augmentation is considered one of the most sought-after cosmetic surgeries, providing women who desire larger breasts the ability to change their look. Using implants or fat from the patient's own body, this enhancement surgery improves breast shape and size and results in a desirable, natural, and youthful appearance. Cosmetic surgeons Dr. Erik Nuveen and Dr. Courtney Caplin are experienced in breast augmentation and perform many of these customized surgeries every year. During your consultation at Cosmetic Surgery Affiliates in Oklahoma City, OK, one of our talented surgeons will assess your aesthetic goals and help you understand all of the options available before creating a highly customized treatment plan to help you achieve your goal appearance.
Breast Augmentation Reviews
"I went to Dr. Nuveen 15 years ago for a botched implant procedure by one of the top doctors in Dallas. Dr. Nuveen was so amazing! He wanted to know everything about me! He actually cared about WHY I was having them redone. He is so personable and makes you feel so comfortable. I came in 8/13/2021 to have a new set due to some minor rippling (to be expected in saline). Again…he explained why we were going to use the implants he chose. And made me feel so comfortable. I have and will continue to use Dr. Nuveen and recommend him to all my friends and even strangers (which I’ve done for years!) Please don’t retire on me until I have a few more nip/tucks done! You are the Best plastic surgeon! And the entire staff is so friendly and nice and accommodating. A rare find these days. Thank you all so much!!!"- D.D. / Google / Aug 17, 2021
"I can't say enough good things about CSA. I have waited for over 10 years to have my breast augmentation and I can definitely say that Dr. Caplin exceeded my expectations. She has a wonderful bedside manner and having a woman's eye, I believe made all the difference. I would highly recommend. Ashley and Amanda are who I met with for my consultation. Ashley is very personable and easy to talk to. Amanda took her time and helped me decide what size to go. I didn't feel like I was rushed or just another number. She was funny and remembered the funny things I said after coming out of surgery. The office staff in general were very friendly. I'm glad I did my research and came across CSA. I wouldn't go anywhere else!"- A. / Google / Aug 25, 2021
"This was my first cosmetic procedure and I got a breast augmentation. This place was absolutely great from start to finish. The whole staff made the process easy and comfortable, from the first call to the final day of surgery. I had to reschedule my surgery and they were great about that as well. Dr Jung performed my procedure , she was so kind and even texted me the night after my surgery to check up on me. She took a lot of time to discuss the look I wanted as well as my goals . I couldn’t be happier with the size and look of my breast ! The pain was in my opinion very minimal as well. I’m only one week post op but all of the pain is mostly gone and the wound is healing nicely . I’ll definitely recommend them to all of my friends and family ! I already feel so much more confidence!"- B.I. / Google / Dec 21, 2021
"From consultation to surgery the staff is like no other. I felt as though they went above and beyond to educate me on the procedure and what was going to be done as well as what was to expected. Setting expectations is high on Dr. Naveen’s list. He was absolutely fantastic and so was his staff. I highly recommend this facility."- W.B. / Google / Jan 06, 2022
"Dr. Nuveen, his surgical team, nurses, and administrative staff are top-notch! I was in an acute situation and they found a place in the surgery schedule that most likely ended up saving my life from breast cancer. In my opinion, you are in the best hands in the state with Dr. Nuveen and his team."- S.M. / Google / Sep 15, 2021
Should I Receive Saline or Silicone Breast Implants?
During your consultation at Cosmetic Surgery Affiliates, one of our surgeons will help you select the implant most appropriate for you based on the size and shape of your body, as well as your own aesthetic goals. Breast implants are made in varying shapes, sizes, profiles, and textures — each of which is considered carefully in order to achieve the specific look you wish to attain. The most commonly chosen breast implants are silicone or saline, both widely popular and approved by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA). An important thing to note is that candidates considering saline breast implants must be at least 18 years old while patients must be at least 22 years of age in order to undergo surgery with silicone. Two other types of augmentations include a form-stable implant known as a gummy bear implant and an autologous approach through fat grafting. In addition to the type of implant used, there are other notable factors to decide.
How is the Size of Breast Implants Decided?
Implant size is distinguished based on the number of CCs of silicone or saline to be used. To pick the right amount, our surgeons will measure how much original tissue exists and assess the breast size you hope to achieve. During surgery, it is common for Drs. Nuveen or Caplin to temporarily switch out various implants to get an idea on a better fit.
What is the ideal Placement for Breast Implants?
Incision type, as well as implant placement, are topics that will be discussed prior to your surgery. During the procedure, an incision is created and the implant will be slipped into place. There are a couple of methods that may be used for implant placement. These include either submuscular placement (under the pec muscle) or submammary/subglandular placement (over the pec muscle). Where our surgeons will place the implants will be based on numerous factors, including the type and degree of implant enlargement. Regardless of the type of incision created, scarring is generally minimal as our surgeons are highly skilled in discreet incision placement.
How is Breast Augmentation Performed?
Your breast augmentation will be performed as an outpatient surgery using general anesthesia. After creating the incision(s), the appropriate implant will be inserted through (and deposited into) a surgically created pocket before being placed into its proper position. Following the placement of the implant, the incision will be closed with sutures or surgical adhesives. All patients will be taken into a recovery area and carefully monitored and screened before being released. You will be sent home wearing a medical sports bra to assist with swelling. Within a few days, the swelling will start to dissipate, and your breasts will begin to feel normal as they adjust to their new position. While individual results vary, most patients can resume normal activities within several days; however, exercise should be avoided for at least 6 – 8 weeks. Breast enhancement surgery produces beautiful outcomes that look and feel normal. In most cases, this treatment can be life-changing for many individuals, allowing them the chance to feel more confident.

Breast Augmentation FAQs
How much does breast augmentation cost?
The cost of your surgery could vary, depending on your choices and whether you are combining additional procedures. When your treatment plan is created, a member of our team will go over estimated costs, as well as financing options. To make sure you are happy with your results and they last a long time, it is better to focus on the quality provided by a qualified surgeon versus the price.
Do I need a breast lift or augmentation?
Your plan might include implants, a lift, or both. Breast lift surgery removes loose skin and raises the breasts while implants enhance the shape and size. At your consultation with one of our surgeons in Oklahoma City, OK, we will listen to your concerns and goals before discussing your treatment options. Augmentation and/or a breast lift are usually included in a mommy makeover to revitalize the breasts after breastfeeding and pregnancy.
Can I breastfeed with implants?
If you want to breastfeed after augmentation surgery, let Dr. Nuveen or Dr. Caplin know during your consultation. It's usually possible to breastfeed after augmentation surgery with the right placement and technique. Breastfeeding and pregnancy can affect your results, which is why it is better to wait until your family is complete to get breast surgery.
Can I have my implants removed?
You might decide that you would like to remove or replace your implants at a later date. Or perhaps it is time for old implants to be removed and replaced. Cosmetic Surgery Affiliates offers breast revision surgery. During revision surgery, your old implants will be either replaced with different implants or removed. If you want to have your implants removed, you might need to have a breast lift to address stretched skin.
Do implants cause breast cancer?
The FDA (Food and Drug Administration) is investigating a link between implants and ALCL (anaplastic large cell lymphoma). This isn't breast cancer, but it is a cancer of the immune system. According to the WHO (World Health Organization), implant-related ALCL is very rare and when caught early, it is highly treatable. Our team encourages all patients with implants to get frequent screenings for breast cancer. You should contact Cosmetic Surgery Affiliates if you notice anything of concern, such as swelling after healing is complete.
