"Let me tell you about THIS place. I could not have asked for anything more! They were absolutely on top of everything. Made me feel so comfortable and Dr. Nuveen is so talented. You can feel that he cares about his work and that he wants nothing but for the patient to be happy in the end. He was so detailed and patient with me and answered every single question my husband was asking without acting annoyed or in a rush, I’m only day two on post op and I’m so extremely pleased with my experience, IF I ever plan to get anything else done he will be the only one for the job. I say all of this because whenever I was researching doctors over and over, a seriously insane amount, I found dr Nuveen I just knew he was the one and I’m so happy I went with my gut. ❤️ Loved my experience. "I had wanted a tummy tuck for about 12 years. I scheduled a consult with Dr. Caplin just to get an idea of pricing. I walked out with an appointment. She and her nurses were so sweet and honest. I was terrified of the process, because I’ve been ashamed of my body for all of those 12 years. She made me feel comfortable and hopeful. The day of my surgery was another hurdle for my self esteem to cross. Once again, she and her staff was amazing. The nurse, Audrey, and scrub tech, Lita, walked me through each step. They made sure I always knew what was going to happen. I couldn’t have asked for better care! I even was able to reach Dr. Caplin at 10 o clock on a weekend night about something that I had a serious concern with. She responded right away and went out of her way to take care of me. I do plan on having more work in the future, and I will hands down to back to Dr. Caplin! I appreciate the staff for all they did for me!!"- B.E. / Google / Apr 01, 2018

Weight loss patients often realize the need for skin removal surgery when the following conditions become evident as they near their goal weight:
- Sagging breasts
- Loose folds of skin around the abdomen
- Hanging skin and fat pockets around the hips
- Sagging skin and excessive wrinkling around the buttocks area
- Hanging skin from the inner thigh to the knee area
- “Bat wings” or loose skin on the underside of the arms
- “Turtle neck” or loose skin around the neck
Many of these conditions are inevitable after any major weight loss because skin, when stretched for a long time, loses its elasticity and fails to shrink back as the body becomes smaller.
Body Contouring surgery after weight loss are used to remove excess skin and fat that is loose, excessive or hanging. We like to say that there is often a “drift south”. We often recommend grouping certain treatments together as they relate to the lower or upper body in order to minimize the costs, the risks of multiple procedures and improved safety and satisfaction with minimizing recovery times. An example of how a surgeon may group the surgeries include:
- Total Upper Body Lift: This includes arm reductions, axilloplasty, breast lift often simultaneously with implants.
- BodyLift surgery: This includes a buttocks lift, lateral thigh and complete abdominoplasty simultaneously.
After weight loss surgery is considered a major operation in which general anesthesia is often utilized, but not exclusively. The average duration of surgery is between 2-3 hours. All of these procedures are performed with a minimum of two experiences surgeons simultaneously. Multiple concomitant surgical procedures can be combined without increasing risks. This is always at the discretion of your physician. An overnight stay in the hospital is NOT required or recommended. Our research has proven increased safety and satisfaction with outpatient care after surgery, you go home! At least one drain is used in these cases. Bleeding can occur that requires transfusion. Hospital admission can occur, but to date has not. Scaring is an integral part of these surgeries but we do the finest work that can be done, followed by a comprehensive after surgery scar management system proven to reduce scaring. For many patients (99% in our research), the results after surgery are so positive and impactful, they are life-changing.

After Weight Loss Surgery FAQs
Common Areas Treated?
Typical body parts that are addressed for surgery are the abdomen, buttocks, upper thighs, breasts, arms and neck. The most common areas for improvement include the breasts and abdominal area, which can usually be done at the same time. During the course of losing weight, the areas of loose skin will become more obvious and it is usually around this time that patients begin consulting with a Board Certified Cosmetic Surgeon. You must realize that this is a HIGHLY specialized area of cosmetic surgery and should only be performed by experts.
Ideal body weight prior to surgery depends upon stability and health. Patients are all recommended to have a BMI (Body Mass Index) below 30 prior to surgery, but some are not stable at this level. Therefore, we often accept patients with no other associated medical conditions up to a BMI of up to 40. It is common that during the surgical procedures we perform, patients will lose 15-35 pounds from removal of excess skin and fat. Often, after surgical removal of excess skin, patients accelerate in their weight loss due to joy and increased mobility. This is the case when loose skin gets in the way of the patient’s daily physical activities.
Will Insurance Cover the Cost?
NO. We do not and will not ever associate with insurance reimbursement. We provide an extremely high quality service at a fair and fully transparent price. We will provide a letter in support of patient reimbursement to insurance companies for a $35 paper filing fee. Our financial coordinator works to provide accurate estimates associated with the physician recommended procedures and can assist in securing financing through various options. We sincerely care about your medical and financial wellbeing and will educate and help you find the best, lowest fees and lowest interest options for your surgery. We are not affiliated with any financing company and do not receive benefits or compensation for our directing of patients to a particular company. We recommend home equity loans and bank associated personal loans as a first choice. Alternative methods do exist and we will help you achieve your goals thoughtfully.
