Welcome to Aesthetically Anne's Corner!

My name is Anne Parker and I am the Licensed Aesthetician at CSA. I joined the CSA team in May to help open their Medical Spa.I've worked in Medical Aesthetics for 19 years in the Oklahoma City area. I'll be sending newsletters covering all the treatments we offer at the Medical Spa, skin care products, skin conditions and overall skin health. We offer several treatments and products and I would love to help you with your skin concerns.

Today I'd like to tell you about a healthy skin barrier function.

What is the Skin Barrier?

The skin barrier is the most superficial layer of the epidermis. It is responsible for keeping moisture in and harmful substances from penetrating. When the barrier function is working properly the skin is plump, hydrated and healthy.

When the barrier function is compromised the skin will have irritation, dryness, redness, moisture loss and dehydration. The skin will also have more sensitivity.

What can cause barrier damage?

Over cleansing, over exfoliation, pollution, bad air quality, stress, lack of sleep, and even sun damage.

Ways to repair the barrier function would be using a gentle cleanser, stop exfoliating for a while, use moisturizers that have ceramide, niacinamide and hyaluronic acid which hydrates the skin. Keep skin care simple for several weeks. You will start to notice your skin is not as sensitive and reactive. It will look plump, hydrated and have a healthy glow. Then you can slowly reintroduce your products that have active ingredients. Keeping a healthy skin barrier is much more than a cosmetic concern.

Here are a few products we offer at CSA that can help with a healthy skin barrier:

Dr. Courtney's Skin Care: OMG Lux and Thirsty Skin Serum

SkinMedica: HA5, Dermal Repair and Recovery Complex

Please give me a call to set up a consultation if you have any questions.
