The dreaded double chin no longer has to be accepted thanks to neck liposuction, which removes fat from the neck and chin region. The Oklahoma City cosmetic surgeons of Cosmetic Surgery Affiliates typically use a steel tube called a cannula with a suction device attached to enter carefully-made incisions. With their skilled and experienced hands, Dr. Erik Nuveen and Dr. Courtney Caplin will loosen and suction out excessive fat. The result is a slimmer neck and chin area with a diminished double chin, which will make a patient look younger. Some patients may have a neck lift in conjunction with the liposuction to provide further contouring.
"Would give more stars if I could! Amazing group of people working here and very considerate, helpful, encouraging, and overall I had a even better experience than I could have ever expected. I'm very grateful for their opinions, timeliness, care, and most importantly my surgery outcome! Could not recommend a better plastic surgeon and staff!"- Anonymous / UCompareHealthcare / Nov 20, 2016

"The staff is very welcoming here and responsive. My consult with Dr. Nuveen was comforting, kind, extensive and generous to a fault. I left there feeling like he truly cared about me. I chose him over 7 other plastic surgeouns who've been in the community 15-25 years. I also based it on his beautil appearance. He's either been blessed naturally or if any plastic surgery it looks so natural. I cant wait to have mine this month. Thank you for giving me a second chance. Sincerely, Karla Strickland."- K.S. / Google / Nov 06, 2017

During a neck liposuction procedure, a tiny incision is made underneath the chin and a small cannula is inserted so that excess fat deposits can be suctioned. After the desired amount of fat has been removed, small sutures will close the incisions. This procedure leaves minimal scarring. A number of surgeons prefer to use the tumescent liposuction technique (“superwet”), which includes a numbing solution that is combined with a substance that helps control bleeding.
As a supplementary procedure with neck liposuction, a neck lift will correct any loose skin by removing the excess folds and tightening the underlying tissues and remaining skin with sutures. Incisions are placed on the underside of the chin or along the natural neck crease so that scars are not evident when the wounds heal. A neck lift reshapes the neck to create a stronger facial profile.
Neck liposuction surgery is always performed in an accredited surgical clinic with the use of general anesthesia. It is typically an outpatient procedure, but patients are advised to have someone stay with them for at least the first 24 hours. It is important to avoid putting any pressure on the neck and patients will be advised to sleep sitting up for a few days. A restricted diet will also be required to help aid healing. The results are often obvious immediately after surgery with optimal improvement seen after a few months.
On average, the cost for a neck liposuction procedure is $2,600. Additional procedures, such as a neck lift or chin augmentation, will increase this cost. If a combination surgery is warranted, the surgical plan will be outline during the initial consultation.

Neck Liposuction FAQs
Why choose neck lipo?
Liposuction of the neck creates a firmer, smoother and more refined appearance to the neck and chin. Even without making any other changes to the face, improving a thick, wrinkled or sagging neck can dramatically improve one’s appearance, helping a patient look years younger or even as though he or she has lost weight. Neck liposuction can also help restore balance to facial features by providing a better defined jawline that frames the rest of the face.
One of the advantages of liposuction of the neck is that it is minimally invasive and the incisions are just enough to insert a small cannula. Therefore, when the incision does heal, the scars are barely noticeable. Additionally, they are placed in areas where they can easily be concealed.
How Much Fat?
Neck liposuction generally targets smaller areas of fat compared to other parts of the body where liposuction is desired. The surgeon will continue to suction fat cells until the desired outcome as been attained.
Are Results Long Term?
The fat tissues are removed, but this does not mean that new fat tissues cannot develop. When proper diet and regular exercise are neglected, weight gain will most likely compromise the results of the liposuction. Results may be long term depending on the patient’s weight maintenance.
What happens during neck lipo?
Through a tiny incision, a cannula (a small suctioning tube) will be inserted to vacuum the fat layer that lies deep beneath the skin. The cannula will be pushed and pulled through the fat layer, breaking up fat cells and suctioning them out. The entire procedure is often completed in less than an hour and only requires a local anesthetic, but most choose intravenous sedation for relaxation.
What happens after neck lipo?
During the recovery process, you may be required to wear a compression garment to minimize swelling and promote proper healing. The recovery process is relatively short and most patients are able to return to work quickly after surgery. The results of your surgery will gradually become apparent as swelling begins to subside.
Are the Results Permanent?
Patients who experience significant weight gain following surgery may have altered results. In order to increase the probability of long-lasting results, it is important to maintain a healthy diet and exercise routine.
Any Risks associated?
All surgeries carry some level of uncertainty and risk. Though they are rare, complications can occur with neck liposuction. Risks increase if a greater number of areas are treated. Prior to surgery, Dr. Nuveen and Caplin will discuss all potential risks with you. Risks associated with neck liposuction may include delays in healing, blood clots, fluid loss and nerve damage. These are all extremely rare, in many cases never seen.
Who can receive liposuction?
Above all, a candidate should have realistic expectations about what the procedure can do for them. Good candidates will have overall good health and be motivated to continue a healthy diet with exercise post-surgery.. Liposuction works best for people who have pockets of unwanted fat that have not responded to dieting and exercise. Most commonly, liposuction is combined with other procedures rather than used in isolation, such as neck muscle correction or with skin lifting as in a necklift or SmartLift procedure.
When will I see the results?
Usually within the first month. The swelling goes away and the sensation returns to the skin. Lumps and bumps often disappear. Some instances can continue improving for up to 6 months.
Pain and discomfort?
No. There is very little discomfort associated with Neck Liposuction. You will have swelling, bruising, some numbness and a “pulling sensation.” These are normal, are managed with pain medication and diminish daily. All symptoms are totally gone within a few weeks.
How much time off work?
You should be presentable to return to work within 3-4 days.
