I’m tired of people telling me I look tired! What can I do to look better?

One of the most common areas of concern for patients at Cosmetic Surgery Affiliates is their eyes. This comes as no surprise, as when we connect with people either in person or virtually, we generally focus on eye contact. Without a question, one of the highest satisfaction interventions we offer at CSA is for more youthful eyes.

As with most areas of the bodies, transformations can range from non-invasive to full surgery.  To start with the least invasive, would be excellent skin care. I recommend that everyone wear sunscreen daily.  Additionally, I recommend an eye cream with active ingredients to treat the areas of concern. Dr. Courtney’s Ultimate Eye Cream is one of my favorites.  It not only has a touch of retinol in it to help with collagen formation and exfoliation, but also has arnica in it to help with darkness and caffeine to give an instant tightening effect.  Along with a great eye cream, the DiamondGlow is a treatment performed by our aesthetician, Anne, which gives a brightening effect.  It exfoliates, performs a microdermabrasion, and also infuses the skin which customizable solution for each individual.

After skincare, the next step on the ladder would be injecting neurotoxins (like botox, Newtox, or Dysport) and filler (like Juvederm). The toxins weakened muscle that would otherwise cause wrinkles when contracting. The filler can fill in areas under the eyes, camouflaging hollow areas.  In fact, toxins and fillers can be used to achieve was is called a chemical brow lift.  We can inject in areas which actually give a small raise to the brow without undergoing surgery.  Although all of our surgeons at CSA perform injections, our nurse practitioner Jamie Stokes is highly specialized in this area.

Skin resurfacing would be the next rung in the ladder.  We offer a variety of skin resurfacing options at Cosmetic Surgery Affiliates. Light resurfacing can be accomplished with our erbium laser which could easily be done on a lunch break and look like a light sunburn.  On the other end of the spectrum is our CO2 laser which generally requires sedation and a more extended recovery.  Of course the deeper the resurfacing, generally the greater the results.

Finally surgery can be performed to treat excess skin and fat around the eyes.  If the eyebrow has drifted down over the brow bone itself, a brow lift may be recommended lifting the brow back up to its more youthful position.  If the brow is in a good position, but excess skin and/or fat make the upper lid full an upper eye lift can tighten the crease.  A lower eye lift is used for bulging fat pads or bags under the eyes and excess skin as well.  These surgeries are generally performed under sedation, and are outpatient procedures, so you can go home the same day.  The patient often feels better before looking better. Minimal pain medication is usually needed; however, it is not uncommon to have “black eyes” for 1-2 weeks.

As you can see through the above reading, many options exist.  Most often we recommend a combination of treatments, along with maintenance recommendations to keep your invest emend looking good as long as possible.  If you are interested in learning more, we offer both virtual and in person consultations at Cosmetic Surgery Affiliates in Oklahoma City.
